Osaka Capital Partners Commences Operations

August 19, 2025, Hong Kong, Osaka Capital Partners (“OCP”) has officially commenced operations as a new investment firm with its headquarters in Hong Kong dedicated to growth investments in the Asian Media and Entertainment (“M&E”) sector. With a specific focus on Northeast Asia, OCP aims to create long-term value and deliver sustainable and cultural impacts across Asia and internationally, leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.
OCP is led by Mr. HOOI Hing Lee, Executive Chairman, a seasoned financier and media industry leader with decades of experience across Asia’s financial and creative landscapes. Mr. Hooi currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman (acting) of Digital Domain, a Hollywood visual effects studio listed in Hong Kong and as a Non-Executive Director at Neon Global, a Singapore-based media technology company backed by international institutional investors. He has held senior executive positions across major financial institutions in Australia, and Asia, and founded pH Capital Limited in 2013 to drive impact-focused investments in verticals such as food security, green mobility, and media technology.
Joining OCP’s leadership is Mr. Jimmy CHAN Chun Ming, Senior Vice President. With over 4 decades of experience in corporate finance and asset management, he will oversee M&A and transactions management of OCP.
OCP’s endeavours will be further augmented by an experienced international Advisory Board, which includes:
1. Mr. Lloyd Chao, an established Hong Kong-based film producer and media executive, having held tenures at two iconic Hong Kong film studios: Golden Harvest and Shaw Studios. He holds credits in more than thirty feature films by renowned filmmakers such as Jackie Chan and Ang Lee. Lloyd has also co-founded media startups, including ASN-Sports Illustrated TV, which broadcast the NFL, NHL, NASCAR, and NCAA sports across ten Asian territories.
2. Mr. Patrick D. Cheung, former CEO of Lazard Asia Fund, a American senior executive with more than 45 years of experience spanning energy, media, investments, finance, strategic planning, real estate development, and cross- border transactions across the US and Asia. He was previously a partner with McKinsey, President of Pacific Century Regional Development Company Limited and Chairman of SingTao, a HKSE listed media group. He is also the founder of QED Global Limited, an advisory firm specializing in M&A, focusing on the tourism media sector.
3. Mr. John Marsden, a Senior Consultant at Johnson Stokes & Master (JSM) and former Partner of Mayer Brown. As the joint Global Head of Restructuring for Mayer Brown, he is regarded as one of the leading experts in financial restructuring. An Australian, John has represented clients in large scale financing, non-performing loan disposals and large-scale, multi-jurisdictional restructurings and insolvencies, including landmark transactions such as Asia Pulp and Paper, Sapura, Lehman Brothers, and Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group.
